There are many people who want to know if exercise can help in curing acne. There are some people who suggest that exercise can cause acne; another group believes that exercising regularly can help in curing acne. People who believe that exercise can cause acne say that when people exercise they perspire profusely which may clog the boy pores which can lead to acne. The reality is that exercising does not cause acne. However, improper skin care after you exercise can cause acne.

Acne is caused when the glands secrete more oil which gets deposited on the skin. This can lead to inflammation of the skin and may lead to development of acne. At times, some bacteria that are found in the hair follicles mix with the oil which may give rise to acne

How exercise can help in reducing acne

  • When you exercise regularly the blood circulation improves which helps the body receive cleaner oxygen.
  • When you workout vigorously, you sweat which helps in carrying out toxins from the body and purifying the blood.
  • Regular exercising helps in regulating the hormone level in the body. Endorphins are chemicals that have an impact on the mood of the person. They make the person cheerful and reduce stress which helps in reducing acne.
  • Exercising regularly helps to strengthen the immune and lymphatic system which helps in preventing the attack of disease causing germs. It also helps in getting rid of harmful toxins from the body.

Post-exercise care to prevent acne

When you exercise, sweat is bound to be generated. Therefore, it is a good idea to take a shower after you complete your workout session. If you are unable to take a shower, you can get rid of germs and dirt from your face by wiping your face with a clean wet cloth. Avoid rubbing your face vigorously with the cloth as it may cause acne.

When exercising, it is best that you avoid using make up and oil-based cosmetics can block your skin pores. If not putting on makeup is not an option, make sure you use oil free cosmetics. Also, make sure you have a shower or clean your face thoroughly after exercising. If you are doing an outdoor exercise, you can use an oil-free sunscreen.

It is important that you wear loose fitting clothes when exercising. Also, avoid wearing nylon, synthetic or Lycra and try wearing cotton clothes when exercising. Also, make sure you get out of your wet clothes as soon as you finish exercising as wet clothes prevent your skin from breathing and promote the growth of germs.

Make sure the exercise equipment that you use is clean. If you use a helmet when exercising, make sure you clean it with a clean damp cloth before and after using it.

When you exercise you must drink plenty of water as your body loses water when you sweat. You must try to keep the skin supple and make sure all the toxins are flushed out from the body.

Therefore, it is important that you check out the benefits and side-effects of the treatment before selecting a treatment.

Many studies have been conducted to find out ways to reduce the occurrence of acne. A recent study has shown that having a low carbohydrate diet not only helps you lose weight but also helps in erasing your acne. Some people who suffer from acne may also have high insulin and consuming low carbohydrate food can help in controlling acne by lowering the insulin levels in the body. People must also avoid eating dairy products as it not only increases weight but also promotes acne. However, no evidence has been found that links chocolates to acne. If cutting down on your sugar intake does not help, it is best that you consult a skin doctor as untreated acne may lead to scars.
