Soda, Energy Drinks and other Sweetened Beverages can cause health problems

Most people avoid drinks colas because they can harm your body. They drink energy drinks and other sugary beverages to suppress their urge of drinking cola. However, a recent study has found that drinks energy drinks, soda and other sugary beverages can increase your calorie intake by about 330 caries which is equal to the calories present in two and a half cans of regular cola.

According to Cythia Ogden, who is an epidemiologist at the National Center for Health Statistics, there are many people who are getting a lot of unwanted calories from these drinks. In a recent study, it was found that 50 percent of US population drinks sugary beverages in a day and about 25 percent people consume more than 200 calories in a day. Another startling fact that was revealed in the study was that about 5 percent of people consume a whopping 567 calories from these sugary beverages.

The increase in sugar and calorie intake because of these sugary drinks is one the major problems that is affecting Americans today. Health experts are of the view that these sugary beverages is the single most important source of calorie and also accounts for nearly 40 percent of sugar intake of people.

In recent years, the study on the affects of sugary drinks has increased because health experts believe that it a major cause of type 2 diabetes and obesity. Since the consumption of these beverages is rising at an alarming rate in young adults and teens, it could cause serious health problems in the future. People who drink these sweetened beverages are just drinking liquid that does high calorie content but no health benefits. Even though the heart associated has prescribed a maximum of 36 ounces of sweet drinks in a week, it is best that people avoid drinking these beverages altogether. People can instead drink water, 100 percent fruit juices and fat-free milk.
