Quit Smoking

People who don’t smoke have a reduced risk of dying early. In a recent study, it was found that people who smoke increase their risk of dying early by three tips. The study also found that women who stop smoking before they turn 40 are likely to live at least 10 years more than women who don’t quit smoking even after they cross 40. Cigarettes are known to contain toxins that can increase the risk of problems like cancer and heart diseases. People who find it difficult to give up their addiction can opt for e-cigarettes, as they are less harmful when compared to ordinary cigs.

Reduce Alcohol Intake

Taking alcohol in moderate quantities can help in reducing the risk of heart disease by more than 40 percent. However, when they are unable to control their intake it can damage their liver. Some of the other problems associated with excessive drinking of alcohol include high blood pressure, reduced fertility and risk of heart diseases and cancer.

Avoid Stress

The pressures of modern life can have a serious impact of on the life expectancy of people. Stress can increase your blood pressure, obesity, heart disease and can also increase depression. All these health problems can take off several precious years of your life.

Regular Exercise

Regular exercise can help in lowering the risk of cancer and osteoporosis by 40 percent and heart disease by more than 15 percent. Your exercise routine must include a combination weight training and cardio that will help in boosting your metabolism and help in burning fat. Regular exercise also helps you look hunger and wards off health problems like diabetes and heart diseases. If you don’t have a good gym close to your office or home, you can do exercises in a park close to your home.

Eating Healthy Food

Your diet must exclude foods that are laden with trans fat. Since trans fat can increase your weight, it is best that you don’t eat more than 2 grams of trans fat daily. Also, women must eat soy at least twice a week to reduce the risk of breast cancer. You can also include green leafy vegetables, soy milk, fruits and tofu in your diet to improve your life expectancy.
